With the Emberton earning the title of the smallest portable speaker in the Marshall line, the Stockwell II delivers a bigger, heavier sound. In the intervening years, it has fallen in price – from 219 pounds to 169 pounds. So, given the increased competition, especially in the form of the Sonos Roam, where does the Stockwell II stand?
This version of the Stockwell II is finished in black and brass, which refers to the appearance of the underside of the handle (also available in black and burgundy). The rest of the speaker remains the same, from the gold Marshall logo to the easy-to-carry handle that makes it look like a handbag.

Compared to the Sony SRS-XB23, the Marshall lacks depth, so it digs into less detail.

Slower tracks help reduce this deficiency, as faster tracks can still see details that fall through the mesh. But its high frequencies are crisp and clear, and it offers better overall sound balance than the Sony.
