Wireless Speaker Systems Tv – Share all sharing options for: Roku combines soundbar and wireless speakers into a surround sound system
Roku is doing the obvious: creating a surround sound system that combines the company’s smart soundbar, subwoofer, and Roku TV wireless speakers for a more immersive sound experience. A software update due in February will allow owners of Roku-branded soundbars to add wireless speakers, previously only compatible with Roku TVs, and a subwoofer. Roku uses Dolby Audio (Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus), which is widely supported on Disney+, the Apple TV app, Netflix, and other streaming apps.

All audio components connect to each other wirelessly, which is a convenience compared to traditional surround sound systems. Another is that sound adjustments (volume up, volume equalization) are handled through the Roku’s on-screen menu. Setting up a Roku surround sound system takes just a few minutes: you press the Home button on your remote for a few seconds, and then a menu appears to put everything together. A sound check is performed to ensure that the rear left and right speakers are set up correctly, and you’re good to go.

But there’s a strange flaw in all of this: the whole proposition doesn’t really make much sense to Roku TV owners. See, the smart soundbar has Roku software built into it, and it doubles as a streaming gadget in its own right. But if your 4K TV is already running Roku OS, you’ll have to deal with a lot of redundancy. Roku is trying to explain something on this page. But this seems impractical to me. You will be dealing with two Roku remotes and two Roku interfaces. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to combine two sets of Roku TV speakers to create surround sound: a soundbar is required.
This solution is clearly intended for many people who have TVs from other brands such as Samsung, Vizio, LG, Sony and others. Roku believes that this can greatly simplify home theater for these consumers. For surround sound, you can still choose to have sound from all speakers (with added ambience) or just the front speakers in regular stereo. In a brief demo at CES, the Roku system looked pretty good to me, but clearly fell short of the Atmos experience. If you like that level of surround sound, you can go even better with the Vizio Surround Sound System.
Walmart is releasing a cheaper version of the wireless speaker that carries the merchant’s “enablement.” Branding for $149 (compared to $199 for the standard Roku set) in February. This could turn the Roku into an inexpensive surround sound system. Surprisingly, Roku doesn’t (yet) offer a $159 smart soundbar, $199 Roku TV wireless speaker, and $159 subwoofer bundle, but it could be just around the corner. Best Soundbars For Every Budget (2022): Vizio, Sonos, Samsung, Yamaha, Sony
If you want to improve the sound of your TV, there is a wide choice between the convenience and affordability of a sound bar or the higher sound quality – and additional cost – of a dedicated surround sound system. Both will let you experience better sound quality, including Dolby Atmos for your movies and TV shows. Both can also offer music streaming from your phone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, or enable control with voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant. Both soundbars and speaker systems have their pros and cons, so where do you start?
First, you need to decide how much you are going to spend and what part of the living space you are willing to give up. Soundbars require less money and space, while AV surround sound setups require more. Let’s break it down.
One of the main advantages of a soundbar is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money. The best soundbars can be had for around $100, and spending $200 or more will get you something pretty good. If you’re spending more than $500 on a soundbar, you need to think about the costs.

It may take more time and money to put together a stand-alone speaker system, but the effort is worth it.
