Soundlink Mini Bluetooth Pairing

Soundlink Mini Bluetooth Pairing – Bose has a long history of creating high-definition audio devices with excellent build quality and room-filling sound. Bose speakers occupy a very special place in the audio market, delivering big sound from a small space. In this sense, the SoundLink Mini II is no exception. It is one of the newest and smallest members of the Bose line of portable wireless speakers.

As an owner of the original SoundLink, I had mixed feelings about testing the SoundLink Mini II. The first portable Bluetooth speaker released by Bose was twice the size of the Mini II and produced amazing room sound, but unfortunately it didn’t have the best Bluetooth receiver. As a result, if the audio source is more than 6 feet away or for no reason, the sound is often interrupted. To use it, I had to leave the MP3 player on a nearby table. Wireless, yes, but not exactly convenient. Since then, Bose has come a long way with its wireless technology, and it was time to try again.

At just 2″ high, 7″ wide and 3″ deep, it’s a very small speaker. As I said before, it’s less than half of its big brother, the SoundLink. At 1.5 pounds, the Mini II is not. . light as some of its competitors, but the high build quality justifies the extra weight. The outer frame feels very solid and sturdy. As much as you want to bend, this speaker will never give in. The front and rear beams are perforated metal , a strong look and gives uniformity to all surfaces. The bottom has a rubber base so the Mini II won’t scratch anything you hit it on. The rubber also gives the speaker good sound and prevents it from shaking at high volumes. .This also goes for the included docking station. passes

Although it is made of a less sexy plastic, the dock is also very well designed. There are no plugs or cables connected to the speaker. It simply rests on the bottom and four small power cables allow the speaker to be charged. This is very convenient because you can just grab the Mini II and go. At just 0.6″ tall, the stand elevates the speaker slightly and almost disappears into the overall design. Once attached, you can’t separate the pieces.

Both the speaker and the docking station have a Micro-USB port for charging. I think Bose was very smart to include a charging port on the speaker in addition to the base. It allows you to charge the Mini II even without a docking station. This is a big improvement over the SoundLink and SoundLink Mini, which use their own charging cable. Now you can use any USB port or battery to charge the speaker. A USB cable and wall plug are included in the box if you need them. The speaker also has a 3.5mm audio jack, so you can connect it to a wired audio source.

At the top of the Mini II’s frame, you’ll find a row of nice rubber buttons to control the unit’s various functions. Boost, volume and downloads are all exactly as you’d expect. You’ll also find a dedicated Bluetooth pairing button and a multi-function button. The multi-function button can play, pause, skip tracks and even answer calls when paired with your phone. The Mini II has a built-in microphone, so calls will blast through the speaker and can be used for conference calls.

This time, Bose uses the innovative Bluetooth 4.2 feature, which allows you to sync up to 8 devices and connect to any 2 at the same time. It will remember the last 2 input sources it was connected to and will automatically switch back if those devices are in range. Speaking of range, I’m proud to say Bose has stepped up its game. The Mini II is rated at 33 feet of Bluetooth range, which is pretty standard, but anywhere within those 33 feet you’ll find clear, uninterrupted reception. I have about 80 hours of solid play under my belt and I’m happy to say that the Mini II has never failed me.

How To Pair Bose Soundlink

To pair this speaker with a new audio source, just press the dedicated Bluetooth button and a voice will prompt you to start pairing. A blue light will also flash above the button to indicate that it is ready to pair. Just open your audio source and select a speaker from the list of available devices and you’re good to go. NFC inclusion would be a nice bonus at this price, but pairing the handsets isn’t difficult. When your two devices are connected, the Mini II will play audio from whichever device is currently streaming. In my case, it’s an Amazon Echo Dot and my iPhone. I’m playing Spotify on my Echo and when a phone call comes in, the music stops and the phone hangs up. When I hang up, the music continues without me trying.

To help with all this functionally, Bose has introduced a simple voice assistant feature. When you first turn on the Mini II, it will speak English, but the language can be changed. After this initial language selection, the power button will always announce the current battery level and the names of all Bluetooth devices connected to it. It will also reveal the name of the caller when receiving a call. These audio indicators make the speaker much easier to use than most of its competitors, which use beeps or flashing lights to try to tell you what’s going on.

Bose touts the Mini II’s built-in lithium-ion battery for 10 hours of continuous playback, which is enough for a day of music. In my testing, which lasted about 3 hours a day, I was able to play music from the device for a full week before I needed to charge it again. It takes about 4 hours to recharge the speaker from a vacuum, so don’t wait until the last minute before unplugging it. It will take you a long time to fully recover it.

Now meat and potatoes. How does this little thing sound? The short answer is big and hard. But I will explain. For this, I’ll turn to my trusty ear-testing playlist on Spotify. As usual, I listened to 2 hours and 44 minutes of songs to use in all my reviews. These 36 songs may not represent the best in music history, but they cover a wide variety of genres and each one has something special that I think helps showcase the capabilities of a pair or speaker.

Bose Soundlink Mini Ii Review

Ben Howard’s Old Pine perfectly showcases clean and clear acoustic guitar notes. Even at low volume, the sound envelops you and fills the room, more so than any portable speaker I’ve ever tried. I found myself surrounded by a wonderful sound. I closed my eyes and felt like I was in a live recording room.

Alex Clare’s vocals on Relax My Beloved are very clean and sharp, even with a deep low line that runs throughout the soundtrack. The bass is loud but never goes into the speakers. The rolling bass line in Massive Attack’s Angel is a great example of balance in this speaker. The bass moves you in the gut, but doesn’t add to the mids or vocals. It’s not very deep bass, but the Mini II delivers plenty of bass for a speaker this size. I will also say that it has a bit of a bass bias as well. It’s not a reference speaker, but it’s not a pair of Beats either.

One thing that caught me off guard was the noticeable stereo separation on songs like Monster Magnet’s Power Trip. You can feel every instrument in the room and clearly distinguish between left, right and center stage. Many portable speakers suffer from a very narrow soundstage, and most people never listen to stereo speakers. Delivering a wide range of sound from a small speaker is something that Bose has always excelled at.

The SoundLink Mini II is a great choice for adding music to any room that doesn’t have extra space for a stereo receiver and full-size speakers. Its portability means you can easily replace it. Although the battery is not the best in class, it will provide many hours of music for a full day. The speaker function makes it perfect for a small office where you might need to hold a conference call. This is the greatest small speaker I own
