Game:1 can be connected to each other without creating a network. This system, called stereo pairing, sets up each speaker as a left and right channel of sound and can be added to the Playbar and Sub to create a basic home theater system and is tuned by Tuneplay.

Unlike the Play:3, which has 3 Class-D speakers and a tweeter, and the Play:5, which has three tweeters and mid-woofers and six Class-D amplifiers,

The Sonos Controller app primarily controls and sets up the speaker, but it can also connect to other music services such as Spotify, Apple Music, TuneIn and others. Additionally, if the speaker is connected to others, the same media or different media can be played. The Trueplay feature allows the phone to be used to sing out the speaker’s location and adapt to its data. It will be able to play songs on a supported NAS drive.

The Game: 1 was well received by critics. Matt Tinsley of Tool praised the design, functionality and ease of use, but raised concerns about the app and said “What do you usually use volume control on your Mac or iOS device, if it’s a controversial thing” but he decided. “Game:1 has a larger-than-life front-end sound system, given its size and price.”

I got mine from Amazon and sent it to HopShopGo. The shipping weight is 2.4kg but HopShopGo charges me as 3kg, probably because of the weight of the container. I paid US $31.63 (S$45) for standard delivery.

If you’re having trouble connecting multiple Sonos to your Sonos network, you may want to get Sonos: BOOST. That’s what happened to me and I have to buy Sonos: BOOST.

My iOS Sonos controller cannot connect to my second PLAY:1 even though it is connected via LAN and manages to get an IP from the router.

It is stuck at the last stage where it asks you to press and release the play/pause button at the same time as the volume button. I tried 10 times and couldn’t jump into it even though the charm was audible when you clicked the buttons. I tried resetting the PLAY:1 and power cycling my router, but both didn’t work.

Using Sonos: BOOST, you can connect almost instantly. I don’t think it seems to work that way. I think it might be due to a bug in their firmware version 7.0 that was released 2 days ago.

The Sonos Play:1 is the most affordable speaker in the Sonos multi-room line. It costs $189, and is worth considering even if you want a single wireless speaker instead of a multi-room setup. That’s good.

The Sonos Play:1 is unlike any other small wireless speaker. It doesn’t use Bluetooth, it’s not portable and it doesn’t even offer a 3.5mm plug to accept a wireless source.

The Sonos Play:1 is the most affordable speaker made by Sonos, however. These are the best, smallest and cheapest.

However, it is just as good as its bigger brothers. Sides of the game: 1 is covered with a single piece of metal that is nicely curved at its edges. Its top and bottom are plastic, but it looks and feels good.

Sonos Play: 1 is 16cm high, and the base is about 12cm square. Now you can buy all kinds of poses in it, sewn in the back, but I still find its simple physical use a big draw. It fits on a small table, bookshelf or kitchen side table without taking up much space.

This is an almost awesome looking speaker, hardware wise. There’s a volume rocker and a play/stop button on the top, and an Ethernet socket on the back. That’s it, except for a power jack and a wall socket.

If you’re not familiar with the Sonos system, here’s how it works: any music sent to Sonos Play:1 isn’t streamed via AirPlay or Bluetooth, but
