JBL announced the new Clip 4 and Go 3 Bluetooth mini speakers. Both have received a visual overhaul from their predecessors, with streamlined designs and some new colors available. The Go 3 will ship in October for $39.95. Clip 4 will follow in December for $69.95.

For an upgrade, both speakers support Bluetooth 5.1 and have IP67 water and dust resistance. And instead of charging via Micro USB, which can be difficult, they include a USB-C port. JBL says the Go 3 will provide up to five hours of audio before needing a charge, while the Clip 4 can provide up to 10 hours. None of these numbers deviate from the performance claims of previous iterations.

What Clip 4 and Go 3 have in common is the ability to be clipped or strapped to objects, making them more practical than most Bluetooth speakers. This is nothing new for a Clip-branded speaker, and the latest version can be found on your belt, bag, or anywhere else a carabiner can be attached. But the Go 3’s small loop is a new perk that should make it easier to hold or secure in a bag. The JBL Go 2 is a beautiful and attractive design. Small, compact, curved and waterproof, it weighs 184 grams and comes in several colors.
The Go 2 has certainly learned new tricks from its predecessor, the Go speaker. He decided to go with a new radiator design and clear sound (see the Performance section), and the ability to penetrate water.
With a waterproof design, the speaker feels more durable than the hard plastic of the previous gen. Here a drop or two doesn’t seem like much damage thanks to the rubber outsole.
Simplicity and visual functionality are key, you get five self-explanatory buttons. Unlike other speakers that require a special button to switch inputs, the Go 2 quietly and seamlessly switches between Bluetooth and Aux modes without fuss.

The JBL Go 2 was tested with an Android phone and a Windows PC with a FiiO Q1 DAC amp.
The JBL Go 2 is a surprisingly clear speaker, which I didn’t expect in this class of Bluetooth speakers. What immediately stands out are the clear highs and sharp mids. The Go 2 has clear sound separation and the sound is more advanced than the old JBL Go.
That said, the biggest thing it lacks is the bass. This small 40mm speaker has a frequency response of only 180 Hz – 20 kHz. It means all the scrumptious low bass is automatically turned off. JBL has done this with the aim of preventing the small speaker from emitting frequencies it can’t handle, which avoids blurring/shaking the sound.
That said, the previous generation JBL Go is almost exactly the same and doesn’t do a great job. Whatever JBL does with the Go 2, a different interior design, or a better speaker, they are definitely on the right track.

Call quality is nothing to speak of. It is noisy. However, like most Bluetooth speakers, the JBL Go 2 sounds low and my voice sounds like I’m speaking “underwater” to the caller; and a speaker less than arm’s length from the table. Holding the speaker close to the mouth will greatly increase voice quality but not defeat the purpose of hands-free calling. Think of the call facility as a quick way to call someone directly on the phone.
With the small 600 mAh battery, expect to run about 4 to 5 hours of music. 4 hours may not sound good, but considering the battery capacity, this is good. Some Bluetooth batteries manage more but a few hours more with a battery of about 2,000 mAh.
The JBL Go 2 speaker is a significant improvement over its predecessor, the speaker. For Rs 2,699 what you get is clear sound and a waterproof design.
At Rs 2,699, it is a small player in the big price bracket. At this price, one is used to seeing stereo speakers with bass or more features like SD card support. However, none of those speakers are as clear as the Go 2 in the sound department. The previous generation JBL Go retails for Rs 1,699 but lacks Go 2 support.

Like the more expensive JBL Clip 4 ($70), the Go 3 is available in several color options. The speaker is designed to be played vertically or horizontally, with a rubberized bottom (and rubber ribs on the sides) to keep it spinning smoothly when played at high volumes. The Go 3 has a simpler box design than the Clip 4 which makes it easier to set up and play your audio in a direction rather than blasting it through the ceiling.

While both are excellent Bluetooth speakers, as I mentioned in my Clip 4 review, the JBL Go 3 may be the better choice for most people. The Clip 4 plays louder and a little clearer with bass (it’s a 5-watt speaker compared to the 3W Go 3), but the Go 3 costs $30 less and some may prefer its design, as it did I with the other methods. . At 0.46 pounds (0.21 kg), it’s slightly smaller and lighter than the Clip 4 (0.53 pounds or 0.24 kg), and while it doesn’t have an integrated carabiner, it does have a cable tie, so you can attach a carabiner. .
