Review: Naim Mu So Qb

When thinking of the word What do you think of “wireless speakers”? A $50 Bluetooth speaker? Maybe $200 Bose SoundLink Mini? Or maybe better like the $500:5 Sonos Play?

The Naim mu-so Qb has a flawless design and looks like a $1,000-per-inch speaker. The Qb looks great for an incredibly compact product. The number of items offered is very good.

Performance comparable to a Sonos Play:5 at half the price. and other high-end speakers It can provide a larger stereo sound. No other app is as fluid, capable, or easy to use as Sonos.

It’s a luxury wireless speaker that delivers great sound and stunning design in a compact size. but the price is not expensive

Naim Mu So Qb 2nd Generation Wireless Speaker Review

Above these popular wireless speaker concepts are listed in the lineup. Selected “high-end” which starts at about a thousand dollars in the US And it continues to climb from there. Like the Devialet Phantom ($1,990), Raumfeld Stereo L ($2,400) and Naim mu-so ($1,499), there are models you’ve never heard of. All of this is packed with design and sound quality. But most of the clients were too rich for his blood.

Now, Naim is aiming for a lower $1000 baria with his mu-so Qb. It’s a more compact version of the original mu-so, but retains many of the same technology and design elements. It should have sounded better.

The Qb is the perfect size to fit in most corners of the room. But it wasn’t a shrinking violet. And it can also be the center of attention with engaging music performances. Of course for the money you can do much better. (with dedicated stereo) and one big competitor Sonos Play:5 Sounds good for half the price. But it’s twice as big and doesn’t look that cool. If you want a good wireless speaker and are on a tight budget, the Naim mu-so Qb stands out.

The Naim mu-so Qb is a stylish cube-shaped speaker with an acrylic base. Unique modern lines and a giant touchscreen with volume buttons on top.

Although the original mu-so looks like a TV stand, the Qb is much smaller at around 8 inches. But it can also pack five drivers with a pair of “stereo” midrange and angled tweeters. Aside from lower-end woofers, Naim said he couldn’t build a bass port into such a small speaker. Instead, it incorporates a dual piston bass driver to work with the woofer.

Like the previous mu-so, the Qb is gorgeously designed with an all-metal chassis and the same iconic control console at the top of the device. The console is reportedly made of aluminum and feels great and smooth when used as a volume control. The front and sides are covered with a removable grille. And you can buy other colors like orange and blue.

The speaker is part of the wireless mu-so family, supporting multi-room playback for up to five networked Naim devices. and plays music up to 24 bit/192 kHz. The system supports 802.11b/g wirelessly, but unfortunately cannot see N or even AC.

Of course, this isn’t a 2016 music player unless it has Bluetooth (with aptX) and AirPlay, but also 3.5mm analog, digital, optical, and USB ports.

Naim Mu So 2nd Generation Streaming Active Bluetooth Wifi Speaker :: Kosmas Audio Video

Naim was one of the first high-end brands. that is fully open to digital media And the mu-so line of products can connect the company’s Uniti products to multi-room systems using an app. The Naim mu-so app for Apple and Android offers streaming services such as Spotify and Tidal, as well as streaming from your network. Over Wi-Fi, disappointingly unable to play music from your phone. (Competitors can use Wi-Fi.) Unless you use Bluetooth, which is particularly annoying because of the company’s audiophile heritage.

The app is pretty simple, albeit simple, compared to the slick interface of its competitors. (proprietary) like Sonos, but it offers much more flexibility. With high-resolution playback capability and the flexibility of UPnP, AirPlay and Bluetooth.

To test the Naim mu-so Qb, I rounded up those from mid- to high-end wireless speakers, including Sonos, Bowers & Wilkins, Raumfeld, Definitive Technology, and newcomers to House of Marley. I also pitted the Qb with his big brother. own mu-so original

Naim Bluetooth Speaker

Naim mu-so Qb was quickly acquitted against most of his opponents in a lively tone and pleaded guilty. It sounded better than the first two speakers I compared: the Definitive Technology W7 and the Raumfeld Stereo Cubes. Despite the stereo spread provided by hidden speakers, the Cubes sound a bit bland compared to the Naim. It’s a disappointment because we love it. Raumfeld’s high-end Stereo L’s and the $250 One S. Likewise, DefTech lacks Naim’s enthusiasm and narrative.

Naim Mu So Wood Edition Speaker System Review: Sound, Substance, And Elegance

When paired with the similarly priced House of Marley 1 Foundation, Naim’s work was cut short for him. Both speakers emphasized the vocals equally with forward confessional tones. However, Marley managed to bring naturalness to the music that the Muso sometimes misses. While Mu-so sometimes sounds boxy due to the limitations of small cabinets, Marley’s custom stereo speakers sound much more open.

But how does Naim handle its most famous high-end wireless speaker: Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin Wireless? B&W’s openness from a larger, more spacious cabin is an advantage. Simple style of music such as folk or jazz. It sounds better on Zeppelin than it does in Naim, but Naim crushes Black and White when it comes to bass response: Future of the Left’s “Nike Drink” funk metal track like never before. It sounds solemn and focused on Naim, while the Zeppelin is a bit too airy and can beat the bass.

It works well between the $500 and $1,000 speakers, but what about the $500 Juggernaut everyone wants to beat, the Sonos Play:5? I compared the two using Bob Mold’s “Voices in My Head,” which features inlaid (cheerful) vocals on a buzzsaw guitar. Naim’s vocals sound playful and a little confusing. And the rhythm is hard to hear. For Sonos, the Mold sound is more open and natural. But the bass and drums were a bit swampy. I gave the Sonos a narrow win, but vocalization wasn’t its strength. And if you compare it with discrete speakers Neither single speaker system produces an outstanding stereo image.

Meanwhile We have spent $1,499. in the house for a while and found that there are advantages and disadvantages It might sound good with most songs, but the mu-so Qb sounds more lively than the original muso, with less boom and better vocalization. Using the main track from Future of the Left’s new album as a benchmark, Qb showed a crisper sound in Julia Ruzicka’s bass – you can hear the selection touching the strings – while the mu-so makes a low rumble.

Naim Mu So 2nd Generation Wood Edition Wireless Speaker Review

But when music needs a bigger sound, the original mu-so is still better. When tasked with playing Dead Can Dance’s “Ylunga (Soul Dance)”, it sounded wider than the Qb and was able to produce identifiable stereo images. The Mu-so was also able to produce more mid-bass. Although the deep bass is the same

Although one can argue easily It’s better to buy an amp and speakers. But that misses the point of a speaker like this. With a slightly lower price and more dynamic performance, the Qb is the better product of the two Naim.

The small mu-so QB gives it a nice look. thoughtful design and orderly installation Although not as fluid as some competitors But it has enough offerings to appeal to high-end buyers who value compact size and sleek design.
