It’s no bigger than a giant beer can, but the Logitech UE Boom wireless speaker plays with great conviction.
PLUS it plays extremely loud. Rich sound and powerful dynamics. Good battery life. Moisture protection. Can be played in stereo pairs.
The tiny battery-powered speaker – which plays music for up to 15 hours – is no bigger than a pint of beer, but it’s like an entire can. Ultimate Ears claims a maximum sound pressure of 88 dB, which is very loud for something so small!

The Boom is available in several different colors and delivers 360-degree sound using two 1.5″ drivers, and a pair of 2″ drivers to help with the bass. There are two drivers on each side.
The smartphone connection is made wirelessly, via bluetooth or by using the free UE BOOM app available for iOS and Android, which has a very useful feature: you can choose the connection of two wireless speakers. They can play the left and right channel in stereo or 2 x mono if they are not close.
Boom works beyond all expectations. Even the single speaker sounds powerful and impressive. There is no deep bass and the treble could be more airy, but the sound is still nice and powerful. One boom fills the room with music and two work as stereo speakers if the room is not large.
The Ue Boom 3 And Megaboom 3 Give The Iconic Speakers Their First Redesign In Years
Sounds are clear, and you can even hear small details in the sound. Surprisingly, it all comes together even when played (reasonably) loud. However the sound image is defined and almost free of distortion.
The UE Boom is well built and water resistant. It is strong enough to be carried in a bag and thrown among other devices. Unfortunately, there is no rubber cap covering the USB port, which is used to charge the battery, and the audio input jack at the bottom. Whether it’s intentional or just an oversight by Ultimate Ears we don’t know, but on the other hand it’s the only bad thing we can say about this well-made bluetooth speaker.
The Boom’s solid build might justify the relatively high price – but if you want to play two of them loudly, it’ll cost a pretty penny.
