LG has several areas of expertise, especially when it comes to TVs, and they can position themselves as one of the best. TVs need sound too, and the easiest and most beautiful way to get there is with a sound bar. In our opinion, LG doesn’t always hit the mark when it comes to sound bars. We didn’t go any further than last year and found a mediocre top model in the SL10YG. Big and compact, yes, but comes out with sub-par sound quality.

The LG SN8YG is LG’s most affordable luxury soundbar and soundbar, with built-in Chromecast for streaming and support for the Google Home smart home system. That doesn’t mean it has built-in voice control, it has to be done through a compatible smart speaker, such as a Google Nest Mini, Google Nest Audio or a smart TV with Google Assistant built-in. LG SN8YG is easy to connect. Streaming via Chromecast is like a dream, and after adding a soundbar to a room in the Google Home app, you can have your smart speaker play music on it. The included remote also works well, you just need to know that source selection is done via the button labeled F (Function).
A few more things. First off, this isn’t the movie sound mode you should be using, even when watching a movie. Compared to the rest of the soundscape, dialogue is overemphasized and sounds sharp. Granted, speech becomes clearer when played at low volume, but I don’t recommend this mode.

Additionally, there is a feature called Bass Blast. Avoid this. It has nothing to do with bass, but compresses everything to hell and back and everything sounds sharp and uncomfortable. Fysj and fy! Use the standard sound mode on the movie and it sounds the most balanced. Music usually sounds best in music mode.
It’s nice to note that the sound – with the best sound mode – sounds rich and beautiful.
Movies sound the best, with an unusually large soundscape. The Atmos soundtrack gives the illusion of extra height in the pan, and it works best when I set the ceiling channel to maximum level (6) in the menu. I felt like the size of the listening room had expanded and I was sitting in a beautiful bubble of sound.
