Each LSX II speaker uses a version of KEF’s 11th generation Uni-Q driver array designed specifically for this speaker. This proprietary technology works as a point source, with the tweeter placed in the exact acoustic center of the woofer, recreating how sound is naturally produced. This design eliminates the annoyance of a small sweet spot. instead of having to stay in one small spot for great sound, the LSX II delivers solid, dynamic sound to all listeners, no matter where they sit or stand in the room. .

Connectivity options have improved from the original LSX model with the addition of HDMI and USB-C, making the LSX II an ideal partner for TV, laptop and desktop setups. The LSX II has user-friendly features that include volume settings, sensitivity adjustment, and the ability to select a wake-up source.
For a cable-free setup, you can connect these speakers wirelessly at 24-bit/48kHz resolution or with the supplied cable at 24-bit/96kHz resolution. In addition to the speaker cable, the LSX II comes with power cords, a remote control, a KEF warranty and, of course, customer service.
Setting up the LSX II speakers is easy. The KEF Connect app guides you through the process. The app also controls system and playback navigation, and it has intuitive sound settings so you can customize the LSX II to best suit your room. Thanks to the powerful Room EQ DSP, the LSX II can be effortlessly tuned to your personal taste. “Normal” mode is designed to walk you through easy questions. (You may need a tape measure.) Expert mode provides additional customization.

The KEF Connect app lets you stream TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer, internet radio stations and podcasts. Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast seamlessly stream audio from compatible devices, while Bluetooth expands the options even further. You can use native apps for live streaming from TIDAL, Spotify Connect and QPlay, and the LSX II is Roon Ready. When using Airplay 2, Chromecast or Roon, you can stream to multiple speakers so you can play music around the house.
If you have an extensive music library, you can rediscover your favorite tracks with LSX II. You can play your personal music collection from a compatible NAS drive or music server. Audiophiles can enjoy superb sound with 24-bit/384kHz (PCM), DSD and full MQA rendering.

Nearly four years later, we’re still waiting for an update to the original LSX, given the company’s wide range of recent updates. Enter the LSX II, which the company says is “improved on the original, award-winning LSX range”.
The introduction of KEF’s new W2 wireless platform and enhanced connectivity capabilities will be highlighted. The LSX II also benefits from the company’s latest KEF Connect app, a wide selection of streaming capabilities, plus Airplay 2, Chromecast and Roon. Expanding on the already versatile connection options is HDMI ARC input, which means you can now also connect to your TV.
Many readers have asked if KEF’s new META technology is included in the latest release, but instead the company has opted for its 11th generation Uni-Q driver, which appears to be a big improvement over its predecessor.
The LSX II is available in five expressions, including Mineral White and Lava Red models, finished in Matte Satin and High Gloss spray respectively. Carbon black and cobalt blue are covered in a custom fabric by Danish contemporary textile designer Kvadrat. The Soundwave by Terence Conran Edition was one of the British designer’s latest collaborations. This version sees a ‘sound wave’ pattern woven into a unique Kvadrat fabric, accompanied by Conran’s signature blue colourway.
