Jbl Flip 4 By Harman Portable Wireless Speaker With Powerful Bass & Mi
At first glance, the JBL Flip 4 Bluetooth portable speaker looks a lot like 2016’s Flip 3. But looks are deceiving: it’s actually a slightly larger speaker, weighing 1.14 pounds (517 grams) — 0.14 pounds more than its predecessor — and covered in stronger, tighter-woven fabric. As part of this external design change, the Flip 4 received internal changes, including new drives and a presumably larger battery that offers 12 hours of battery life, up from the Flip 3’s 10 hours. The speaker is also fully waterproof, not just splashproof.
The JBL Flip 4 offers significant improvements over the Flip 3, including better sound and battery life, as well as full waterproofing. It has speakerphone capability and a more durable fabric cover.
A nice upgrade over its predecessor, the Flip 4 is one of the best speakers in its size and price range.
Like the Flip 3, the Flip 4 can be placed vertically or horizontally (called the Flip) and has a detachable cord that lets you hang the speaker from a shower head, an outside branch, or a loop on your backpack. It comes in six colors and costs $100 or £120. Official availability in Australia is not yet known, but the US price is around AU$140.

So how much better is the Flip 4, and how does it stack up against the competition for mini wireless Bluetooth speakers at this price point?
The short answer to the first question is that it’s actually a significant improvement over the Flip 3. Not only does it play a bit louder, but it also sounds better, with better bass and slightly better clarity.
I compared this speaker to the similarly priced Wonderboom Ultimate Ears and the more expensive UE Boom 2. The Wonderboom is shorter, chunkier and gives you more bass; it feels like it’s a bigger speaker than the Flip 4. However, with some tracks, the Flip 4 sounded more natural, especially in the midrange, and I liked the sound better when listening to certain songs.
One problem with testing the performance of small Bluetooth speakers is that their sound quality is inconsistent. They sound great on some tracks, but others sound like a small speaker is being pushed too hard and strained.

Overall, the Wonderboom really leads the way in terms of sound quality, but it’s in close competition, and for its size and price, the Flip 4 performs very well, with extras like a built-in microphone so it doubles as a hands-free speaker. (Wonderboom does not have a speakerphone or auxiliary input).
While it doesn’t play as loud and doesn’t have as good a battery life as the UE Boom 2 (which is almost the same size and shape), it’s a good alternative to this speaker if you’re looking to save money. . And hopefully this speaker will come down in price over time, making it even better. This is simply the best flip.

The JBL Flip 4 Bluetooth speaker is a small, portable speaker with a removable carrying strap. It comes in a number of different colors and has a fairly balanced sound profile, making it suitable for listening to a wide range of audio content. It supports voice assistants via smartphone and has an IPX7 dust and water resistance rating when the lid protecting its inputs is closed tightly, confirming that it can be submerged in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes. Unfortunately, like most speakers of this size, it struggles to reproduce low bass, which may disappoint fans of bass-heavy music. It doesn’t have any sound customization features, like a graphical equalizer or presets to tweak the sound to your liking.
JBL Flip 4 is not bad music. It has a well-balanced sound profile, which makes it suitable for listening to various audio content. It has a well-balanced midrange, so vocals and lead instruments are accurately reproduced in the mix, although high-pitched vocals can sometimes sound a bit muffled. However, it struggles to reproduce low bass, so you can’t feel the deep punch and rumble of bass-heavy music, and there’s no graphic equalizer to tweak the sound. It’s also not very loud, and there’s some compression at maximum volume, so the sound doesn’t sound as clear at higher volumes.
JBL Flip 4 is suitable for videos and movies. It has a low-latency Bluetooth function with iOS and Android devices, so the sound you hear is in sync with the images on the screen. However, some apps compensate for latency differently and your experience may vary. Its balanced midrange ensures that vocals and dialogue sound clear, although they sometimes sound a bit dark. However, its sound stage can be perceived as narrow and controlled. It also has difficulties with low bass reproduction, so you can’t feel the thump and rumble in action-packed scenes.
Jbl Flip 5 20 W Ipx7 Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker With Partyboost (without Mic, Black)
JBL Flip 4 is suitable for podcasts. Its balanced midrange ensures that voices sound clear and present in the mix, making it suitable for vocal-oriented content such as podcasts and audiobooks. However, the treble can sometimes sound a bit dark. Its small and lightweight design makes it incredibly portable, making it easy to carry in one hand. It can be connected to two devices at the same time, which is convenient when you need to quickly switch between sound sources. However, there is some compression at maximum volume, so the sound may not sound as clear at higher volumes.
The JBL Flip 4 disappoints when it comes to audio assistants. Since it doesn’t have built-in voice assistants, it uses the ones on your smartphone. It perfectly recognizes your commands from a distance and understands you perfectly in noisy environments. Unfortunately, there is no mute button that you can use if you don’t want it to listen to you anymore.
The JBL Flip 4 is great for outdoor use. It has an IPX7 water resistance rating when the cap protecting the ports is tightly closed, so it can be submerged in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes. Thanks to its light weight, small size and detachable carrying strap, it is incredibly portable, so you can easily take it with you on the go. Unfortunately, it’s not very loud, and there’s some compression at maximum volume, which can affect the clarity of the sound when listening at louder volumes. It also struggles to reproduce low bass, which may disappoint fans of deep-sounding music like hip-hop or EDM.
The JBL Flip 4 is a small, portable Bluetooth speaker with a removable strap for easy portability. Unlike the JBL Flip 5, this small speaker supports voice assistants via smartphone and can play stereo content without converting to mono. Overall, it has a balanced sound profile, although it struggles to reproduce loud, low bass. It also features JBL Connect+, which allows you to connect it to a variety of other JBL Connect+ speakers, such as the JBL Charge 4. However, it can’t connect to JBL PartyBoost-enabled speakers like the JBL Flip 5 or JBL Charge 5. How and most JBL speakers we’ve tested lack audio-tuning features like a graphic equalizer to tweak the sound to your liking.
