How To Set Up Play:1, Play:3 And Play:5 Speakers In Sonos?

How to Set Up Your First Speaker?

Step – 1: Unbox and plug it in

As a first step, you have to unbox the respective speaker and then place it, as per your convenient place for the predictable future. If you have a plan to connect the speaker over Wi-Fi, you need to position the speaker sufficiently close to your router so as to get a powerful Wi-Fi signal. Alternatively, you could also place the speaker close to a range-improving Sonos Boost. In case you want to make use of a wired internet connection, don’t forget to ensure that your speaker is sufficiently close to the particular router for an Ethernet cable for connecting the two. Just use the cable (come with the box) for connecting the Sonos speaker to a power outlet. As a result, the light should start flashing in green color after some time that means they are ready to undergo the setup process.

Step – 2: Now, you have to download the Sonos application. And in case you’re using PC or Mac, just open the web browser and visit support.sonos.com from where you’d be capable of downloading the application. Alternatively, Android or iOS can also easily download the Sonos application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store respectively. Just you need to search for “Sonos” or you could try out some alternative links.

Step – 3: Select Your Setup Type: After completing the app installation, you have to open it and then click on “Set up a new Sonos system.” Then, you’d be asked what kind of setup you like to go through. In case you’re not using an Ethernet cable and you have also not purchased a Sonos Boost, just click on “Standard Setup” and it’s for anyone who is connecting over a Wi-Fi network.

Step – 4: Choose Your Speakers: In case your tablet, smartphone, or computer has been connected to the Wi-Fi network, you should be capable to see the available Sonos speakers of your home.

Step – 5: Keep Your Speakers into “Join” Mode: The application would then ask you in pressing a number of buttons on the Sonos speaker at once. And the buttons would depend on the speaker you have. As a result, you’d get a temporary Wi-Fi network for your device that you can connect to make the setup to work.  For the Play:1, you have to click on the “Play/Pause” button as well as the “Volume Up” button at once. Other speakers, such as the Play:5, hold their own dedicated “join” button and it appears as an infinity sign or like a figure of eight on its side. The application would tell you which button you’d require in any case.

Step – 6: Make a Connection to the Wi-Fi Network (if you need to): After pressing the buttons, you’d listen to a chime and the speaker would start flashing orange light. The particular application would ask you to confirm that you have seen this. Once you perform, the application would start configuring the speaker. You might have to make a connection to the temporary Wi-Fi network even though some Android phone and tablet users don’t need to do that. In case you have got a Play:5, it would work automatically as well. If you don’t need to connect, visit “Wi-Fi settings” of your device and then select “Sonos.” After getting connected, go back to Sonos application and continue. You might be asked for a password. Once completed, you could choose a name for your new Sonos speaker.

Step – 7: Add More Speakers if you have: In case you like to set up a second speaker or more, just press “Add Another Player” and undergo the setup process again. You’d have to assign a name to each of the new speakers as previous. After completed, all of your speakers would be connected to your Wi-Fi system and you’d be able to make use of the Sonos application to play music on each of your connected speakers. You have to select “Add Music Services” first so as to add any compatible services you use.
