Although the picture quality of the new TV has improved, the internal speakers of the latest version are not suitable for special systems. I recently tried out the new Hisense HS218 soundbar, which comes at an affordable price. But does it really make a difference for movie night? our latest
After launching less than a year ago, the Hisense HS218 arrives as one of the brand’s latest home theater updates. Delivering 200W of overall power, the streamlined audio package features a 2.1-channel setup, thanks to the included wireless subwoofer. Connecting to your TV via Bluetooth or HDMI ARC, the system is also one of the first Roku TV Ready devices on the market for quick setup and easy pairing.
With a list price of $200, it can offer all of these features at a very affordable price, all things considered. But is it worth bringing it to the home theater setup in the first place? That’s what we tried.
Hisense Hs218 Review
I’ve been using the Hisense HS218 soundbar for a few weeks and I’m pretty happy with the overall experience. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a Klipsch Cinema 1200 system, but it certainly sends great movie night through just about any speaker-integrated TV.
The set is well built and has a nice metal speaker grille on the front to give it a premium look, despite its low price. And speaking of build, I prefer the compactness of the footprint, as it can easily sit under the TV without interfering with the IR sensor, or even the screen itself, as I’ve experienced with d other offers in the past. .
Now, the actual sound of the Hisense HS218 soundbar will be the biggest aspect to inform your decision. And like the rest of the package, I’m pretty impressed overall. Everything from the vocals to the soundtrack is pretty crisp and room-filling, depending on the volume, especially if you’re in a smaller room. The inclusion of a dedicated subwoofer is also a huge plus, as having a separate unit prevents the bass from washing out the mids and highs of the real soundbar. Everything you want to say seems pretty overwhelming.
Just to keep your expectations in check, don’t think you’ll get very immersive sound. It’s certainly a step up from the TV alone, and many other budget offerings the Hisense HS218 soundbar competes with.

With a list price of $200, you were able to put this one up for sale recently, so it’s an even better value. If you’re looking for a soundbar around this price, the Hisense HS218 should be at the top of your list. Especially if you can lock less than one store.
