Harman Kardon Portable – Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 7 has a unique design. It’s a speaker that goes well with most home decor. It has good quality sound, Bluetooth support and eight hours of battery life. It’s great if you’re looking for something really basic, but the asking price of S$399 might be a bit steep.
Unlike the Harman Kardon Aura Studio 3’s transparent dome, the Onyx Studio 7 has its own talent surrounded by a metal ring. This gives the speaker a good sense of space. The ring acts as a handle, like the rings around Saturn. At the top are buttons for controls. and a small LED indicator. There is no volume indicator and the volume control step is very small. You need to press several times to adjust. If you’re playing from your phone, you can adjust the volume very quickly.

As with most Harman Kardon products, the sound quality is excellent. With the volume in the midrange with the speakers you get a good balance between the mids and highs. The bass is also really strong if you choose to play it at maximum volume. The bass was very weak but the highs sounded like a breeze. Leave it lower and you’ll get a richer, softer sound.

In terms of connectivity, only Bluetooth is available on the Onyx Studio 7, although pairing is quick and easy. Press the Bluetooth button on the speaker and it immediately goes into pairing mode. No Wi-Fi, unfortunately you can’t use Google Cast. It does not support codecs like AAC or AptX. For the best quality, you can’t adjust the EQ, however, the battery life is up to eight hours. So you can easily bring this device to a picnic. I hope it doesn’t rain. Because it is not waterproof
Retailing at S$399, the Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 7 is a portable Bluetooth speaker that sounds great. It doesn’t have a lot of functions, but it’s not necessary. Buy it from Shopee, Lazada or Amazon SG for only S$297.
