If you’re looking for a new speaker, the R1700BT is a great choice. It comes in 3 different finishes (white, black and walnut) and weighs less than 6kg (13lbs), so it’s easy to move around your home or office.
The shape of the walnut tree looks attractive. Having experienced this feeling, I can tell you that it does not scratch easily. Classic design matching wood and black. This means that most homes go with their decor.

The Edifier R1700BT has a 4-inch bass driver and a silk-dome tweeter that delivers low-level frequencies. The 0.75-inch tweeters perfectly handle high frequencies and provide an enjoyable listening experience for all ages with a balanced sound range across the spectrum.
The 60Hz – 20kHz frequency response is impressive. This allows for rich lows and defined highs with enough headroom to give the sound some room to breathe.
The Edifier R1700BT is too loud at 85dBA and not suitable for most applications. Sound can project across the room while watching TV. I don’t recommend running the speakers at maximum volume for long periods of time as there can be significant distortion even when not pushed to maximum volume.
If you have enough space, you should also invest in more prominent speakers or a subwoofer to properly handle the bass.

The best part about the speakers is that they come with a five-wire port, which makes installation and connection easier than standard two-wire speaker cables. Due to this feature, installing these speakers is very easy as there are no loose connections.
On the side of the Edifier R1700BT speaker, you’ll find treble, bass and volume controls. I also like how they are placed in a cutout on one side of each active speaker. They placed them in a niche, so it was easy for the audience to look away from the front.
The layout is not suitable for left-handed people, as these dials are close to their right hand (except for those who sit opposite).
This speaker has three control buttons for treble, bass and volume. The safety mechanism is great because it sets a slightly quieter level without worrying about sound or damaging your ears or speakers.

The speaker remote control is very basic, but serves its basic functions of changing the volume and changing or selecting an input. As affordable as these speakers are, it’s nice to have a proper controller for this type of product – not many expect it at all.

Although the Edifier R1700BT only puts 15W into a single speaker, it delivers close to 20 or 30W of multi-room sound. The amp unit fits into one of the speakers and puts out 85 decibels, comparable to a more substantial bookshelf with separate receiver units. All of this increases harmonic distortion by 0.5 percent, which is an impressive number compared to other midrange speakers.
I was impressed with how well these speakers managed to preserve perfection, especially detail. With only 4-inch drivers, I imagine it would be easier to play with mudguards or other devices on the track; But there are no such problems here.

The bass response effectively carried the music throughout my listening space, and I found the additional two-band EQ controls to be just what I needed. Of course, you won’t get great performance at the higher end of the spectrum at this price, so expectations aren’t that high, but it’s a fun experience.
These Edifier R1700BT speakers deliver midrange and clarity. It’s very clean, but lacks low-end frequencies compared to other 2.1 speakers under $200 due to the lack of bass response without a subwoofer or additional channel amplifier (AMP).
However, the fundamentals are still acceptable, although it could benefit from more mids due to its powerful and controlled sound, which can only be enhanced by increasing the midrange level for greater depth of musical production.
Although the top end performance of these Edifier R1700BT speakers is good, they lack the glossy and crystal-like finish compared to other more expensive models. It sounds decent, with clear top notes, but lacks enough detail for serious audiophiles like me.
