With the Mini II, Bose has extended the battery life by about 70-80% over the Mini. Audio quality is also slightly improved and the Mini II uses a USB-C charging cable instead of the standard plug that came with the original Mini.

Is the Mini II worth getting? Are these differences really enough to call it a successful upgrade? Let’s dig a little deeper into the details.

With the release of the original Bose SoundLink Mini in 2013, let’s go back to where it all began.

The Revolve was released before the Mini II was discontinued, and Bose tried to make that system the primary Bluetooth speaker system.

Well, here’s the biggest difference between the Bose SoundLink Mini and the Mini II – their battery life.

Compared to everything else released around the same time, the original Mini had average battery life.

The Mini gets around 7 hours of battery life, while some of its toughest competitors get double that on a single charge.

Not too dirty, eh? It doesn’t beat out some rivals, but it represents a clear improvement over the Mini.

Their dimensions are also similar, so you won’t feel that one is bigger than the other.

This button lets you switch to another track, use the microphone, or activate voice assistants (like Alexa or Siri).

The left side of the speaker houses the 3.5mm headphone jack and the microUSB charging port.

Indeed, for those who don’t consider themselves techies, the low-key nature of the Mini and Mini II is refreshing.

So, you’re getting a powerful speaker, even if it doesn’t have many fancy features to try.

In terms of bass, these two Bose speakers do a bang-up job, although the Mini II sees some improvement in this regard.

It’s good enough for small, portable Bluetooth speakers.

The bass-y lows tend to dominate the mids, and in some songs, can muddy things up a bit.

In fact, when you turn it on, you will hear a voice speaking in your own language asking you which language you want to connect.

Most people won’t need this extra notification, but those new to Bluetooth connectivity may appreciate this extra step.

The Bose SoundLink Mini and Mini II are showing their age in 2021. We are seeing a flood of strong but smaller competitors entering the market with better sound quality and advanced features.

The Mini II is a respectable little device that’s better than you think.

Battery life makes up a large part of the differences, and some improvements in sound quality give the Mini II an edge over its predecessors.

If you’re thinking about investing in a mid-range Bluetooth portable speaker, the Special Edition Mini II is something to consider.

But if you’re looking for the cream of the crop, none of these models will suit your needs, as their battery life is limited and their sound quality is mediocre. The SoundLink® Mini Speaker II is small and light enough to fit in your bag. It weighs 1.5 pounds. Its low profile allows you to place it anywhere and provides a low center of gravity, which is almost impossible.

The SoundLink® Mini Speaker II is designed for elegant simplicity. Its single-piece aluminum casing is attractive and durable. The speaker has power and volume buttons—you can control all other functions from your Bluetooth device. Bose has a long history of creating high-fidelity audio devices with excellent build quality and room-filling sound. Bose speakers fit a niche in the audio market, delivering great sound from a small space. The SoundLink Mini II is no exception to that conclusion. This is one of the newer and smaller members of the Bose portable wireless speaker line.

As an owner of the original SoundLink, I have mixed feelings about testing the SoundLink Mini II. The first portable Bluetooth speaker released by Bose is twice as loud as the Mini II and produces amazing room-filling sound, but unfortunately it lacks a great Bluetooth receiver. As a result, the sound often cuts out when the audio source is more than 6 feet away… or at all. To use it, I had to put my mp3 player on a nearby table. Wireless, yes but not exactly convenient. Bose has come a long way with their wireless technology since then, and it’s time for me to try again.

At just 2″ tall, 7″ wide and 3″ deep, it’s a compact speaker. As I said before, it’s less than half the size of its bigger brother, the Soundling. Weighing in at 1.5 pounds, the Mini II isn’t as light as some of its competitors, but the superior build quality justifies the extra weight. .The outer frame makes it feel solid and sturdy.Squeeze it all you want, this speaker doesn’t deliver. The front and rear grills are a perforated metal. It gives all its surfaces a solid and integrated look.It has a rubber footing on the bottom, so the Mini II can handle anything you put at high volume. The same is true of the included docking station.

The dock is also well-designed, though made of a less attractive plastic. There is no plug or cable to connect to the speaker. It is only on top of the foundation
