Because you have to route speaker cables from the amplifier to the speakers, setting up a traditional passive (non-amplified) outdoor speaker requires more skill and effort than placing a portable Bluetooth speaker on your desk. You can power your home theater receiver’s speakers if you have two unused channels. Most stereo receivers have a “speaker A/B” button that allows you to connect the audio to a second set of speakers, or you can use a cheap speaker. You can also use an inexpensive stereo mini amp from online sources such as Fosi Audio or Loxjie. Add a Bluetooth adapter (or buy an amplifier with built-in Bluetooth) and you can easily access digital music files, online audio services and podcasts from your Bluetooth phone, tablet or computer (as long as you keep the Bluetooth adapter close to your seat outside – usually 15 to 30 meters).
You should keep the amplifier indoors and run the cables through your wall or attic outdoors. Obviously, this activity requires a certain amount of skill and experience. Most places allow the use of low voltage cables (ie audio, video and cable) through the wall without a permit, but you should check building codes to confirm this. For safety, use CL2 or CL3 cables.
Another tricky option is finding a set of external speakers with an amplifier and built-in Bluetooth.
