Beosound M5 – The Beoplay M5 (right) is my recommendation, even with two M3s (left) – because the M3s don’t support stereo pairing!
I have also contacted Bang & Olufsen customer service about this (find the post history below) and compile all my findings in this post.

If it is placed in the center of the room, then the answer is clearly yes. I would recommend the M5 with my eyes closed.

However, if placed near a wall, it may not be worth the added cost. I’m sure you’ll still appreciate the better low frequency response – but is it worth adding? Only you can decide. For me (I describe myself as an audiophile. Hello.), it does.
Not only does the M5 have great drivers and amplifiers, but more. Best of all, it spreads sound 360 degrees.
So while the Beoplay M3 is still good enough for most of us; Beoplay M5 offers significantly better sound quality – especially in the bass section (low frequency response).
The M5 also offers wide sound distribution and effective, easy-to-use speaker control options. Unlike the M3, it is also compatible with Spotify Connect.

The effect of combining the two is so overwhelming that it often doesn’t make sense to say a word about the sound quality.
Side note: For smaller portable Bluetooth speakers (like JBL’s Go series), this device may return inaccurate results. However, it can provide more powerful and compact Bluetooth speakers.

I saw the Klipsch Premiere RP-450C Reference dropped from $649 to $399 here (almost 40% off). I’m not sure if this unusual discount is always the case, but it’s definitely worth a shot.

Crutchfield recently created a device that can automatically simulate the sound of many different speakers. For example SVS, Klipsch, KEF and B&W. Of course, nothing beats hearing a real speaker. But I still recommend you to try it.

Both the M3 and M5 are equipped with special software that allows the speaker to sound based on the position of the room:
However, the speaker cannot identify his position alone. You have to be the one to hand them over.
However, the M5 is designed to spread evenly over 360 degrees (hence the tower-like shape), and it does that better – especially in the center of the room.
B&O seems to claim that the M5 does a good job of delivering stereo sound even when used as a single speaker.

They claim the M5 “uses a proprietary environmental technology solution to create a true stereo experience from a single speaker”.
Honestly… I think it’s just fancy sales language so I don’t know what it means.
That being said, the M5 offers almost identical stereo connectivity and sound quality compared to multi-speaker systems.
In the end, I think you’ll even find that one M5 sounds better than two M3s!
Bang & Olufsen Adds Airplay 2 Support To Additional Beoplay And Beosound Speakers
Sometimes I find it to be as narrow as 120-150 degrees depending on the distance and location of the room.
On top of TheM5 speaker is an aluminum plate that houses the volume and connection controls that respond to viscous-damped movement.
M3, on the other hand, has the same simple system, which uses the buttons (one for stopping and two for volume up / down) for the mentioned functions.
It takes about 1 minute to fully set. You can also see this in the M5 manual [first-time setup] and the M3 manual.

The reason they are advertised as multi-room speakers is because you can easily connect them to other speakers in your home using a smartphone app.
The Beoplay M3 still delivers great sound, but considering other alternatives on the market, I don’t think I’d really recommend it unless you have a narrow home or like its sleek design.
Unlike other speakers such as Beoplay A9, Beosound 2, Beosound Edge, etc; The M5 and M3 are designed to fill small rooms with their sound.
They can provide any room less than 40 square meters. You can also connect both to a non-B&O TV or sound system.
