These guys not only know their stuff, they are passionate about their company and their products. I thought the new SVS 3000 might be the perfect match for my current favorite affordable speaker, the Quad S-5, so I ordered a review sample. Nick fulfilled the request easily and quickly.

I was never that interested in subs until maybe 7-8 years ago when I heard a well set up sub in a large system at a friend’s house. I was even more fascinated when I heard another great system with two matching subs. It was then that my serious scuba diving journey began. A lightweight, rigid aluminum valve cone, with composite fiber dust cap, moves large amounts of air to create sound energy without flexing or losing control On the back is the intelligent control interface (ICI) rear amplifier that is fully controllable from an iOS or Android app The sub weighs 54.5 lbs ( 24.7 kg) The cabinet includes a def double thickness MDF front reader and a wide internal support. Acoustic isolation eliminates interior color and resonance. The 3000 series is powered by a Sledge STA-800D2 amplifier that combines the high current output of discrete MOSFETs with Class D efficiency combined with 800 watts RMS and more than 2500 watts peak power.

The rear panel houses the Intelligent Control Interface (ICI) user interface with bright backlit controls and includes an auto power button, low pass filter, volume and phase. You’ll also find an AC power cord holder, an on/off switch, and a trigger input. Inputs include unbalanced line level (RCA) inputs and unbalanced line level (RCA) outputs.
