Ecoxgear Speaker Solar

Ecoxgear Speaker Solar – Summer is prime time for new Bluetooth speakers, and Ecoxgear’s Sol Jam ($150) seems to fit the summer trend. On top of the IP67 waterproof speaker is a solar panel that claims to use “power from any light source” to continuously charge the speaker. Sol Jam packs two 10-watt speakers and a subwoofer into its compact frame. The sealed panel on the back of the speaker covers the 1A charging port for the iPhone. Sol Jam comes with a micro-USB cable, an AC wall adapter for charging, and a carabiner, which can be clipped to either side of the speaker.

Sol Jam is a small speaker, weighing just over 1.5 pounds, and measuring approximately 6.2″ x 5″ x 3″. There is a solar panel on the top of the speaker, and a bunch of buttons – power , Bluetooth, volume, back, forward, play/pause/six, and battery level. Speakers are front, there are holes on the sides for the carabiner inside. If that’s not enough, there are holes for custom mounting on the bottom of the speaker, and a sealed port on the back allows Sol Jam to charge, charge an iPhone, and connect a cable audio input.

It should be noted that Sol Jam is IP67 rated, all protected from dust and allowed to be submerged – but that probably doesn’t matter, because the speaker will run. Sol Jam is quite heavy for its size, but the design doesn’t really work for us. Aside from the solar panels, we’re tired of the matte black rubber that’s almost everywhere on Bluetooth speakers. (There’s a Sol Jam recipe with an orange recipe, not found here, meant to add some welcome color.)

Sol Jam sounds good, not great, for its size, a little disappointing for its price. Bass is good – the subwoofer can rock the speaker on a flat surface – but the speaker lacks clarity compared to competitors, and some music sounds loud at higher levels. On sound alone, Sol Jam strikes us as an $80-$100 speaker. We also encountered a strange audio issue: while our iPhone could handle the speaker’s volume well at first, it didn’t in later tests. Pushing the speaker’s volume buttons worked as expected, controlling the music – but it was no longer possible to control the volume from the iPhone. It may be a small thing on our part, but we thought it was worth knowing, because the users of the Bluetooth speaker do not want to be close to the speaker to change the volume.

While we love Sol Jam’s good features, most of them aren’t that special at this point, though, so the sound comes first. So, while this strikes us as a speaker that should be in the $100 range, is the solar panel enough to justify the extra cash?

Consider this: it’s difficult to measure how much a solar panel affects a speaker during real-world use, especially when you consider that you can’t directly see battery drains. But let’s say that Sol Jam is providing a small amount of battery from nearby light sources. The speaker has a battery that lasts 12 hours, which seems to last longer if you run Sol Jam, even for a few moments. (This is not a speaker we would choose for a long outdoor party, for example.) So the effects of solar panels are minimal. If you’re still interested in thinking about extra power, Sol Jam is worth a look – it has a lot of unique features. But its strong limitations hinder our recommendation.

San Diego, California-based audio manufacturer Grace Digital sells its products under the Grace Digital, ECOXGEAR and Victoria brands. The company specializes in mobile audio solutions, from Wi-Fi music players and apps to Internet radios and waterproof speakers. Now, the company has partnered with SunCore, a well-known solar power company and developer of photovoltaic (PV) panel technology, to help build high density (HD) solar panels. ECOXGEAR.

“Using only SunCore’s amazing solar technology, we can offer our customers a unique experience,” said ECOXGEAR co-founder Greg Fadul. “Our instruments will harness the incredible power of the sun throughout the day, making the galaxy’s brightest star a powerhouse.”

PV panel technology is a solar panel made with a 3-D crystalline structure, to better capture light for longer daylight hours, making the sun’s energy more efficient. With increased efficiency, SunCore solar panels are 22 – 23 percent more efficient compared to traditional panels that are 10 – 15 percent more efficient. This allows users of ECOXGEAR HD solar panels to be brighter and more powerful than traditional panels.

In addition to being more powerful than direct sunlight, HD PV technology cells collect a wide range of light. While traditional panels are limited in how much energy they can harvest on cloudy and foggy days, SunCore panels can harvest energy across the IR and UV light spectrum and The group is much better than the previous days.

“We’ve worked hard to develop a team that works the way our customers need it,” said SunCore CEO and founder Steven Brimmer. “People use solar products when the light conditions are the best. So, knowing this, our goal is to create technology that allows our partners to provide products that will energy collection regardless of lighting conditions. We believe that we have developed the best solution for Solar, and we are happy that Grace Digital has implemented our protection systems in their ECOXGEAR products. More We are proud to support Grace Digital in its quest to deliver the best to its customers.”

Not only is it a priority for the best lighting package, ECOXGEAR is also using SunCore’s Power Management Technology to add more battery power to their products. Using this technology, the solar panel can send more energy to the battery and double the energy in low light conditions and at night.
