The Bose S1 Pro System is a portable Bluetooth speaker system. Its unique Auto Equalizer feature allows you to place the speaker horizontally, vertically or tilted back, and the speaker makes internal adjustments to optimize its performance accordingly. Its neutral, balanced sound profile is well-suited for many different genres of music, although it lacks low bass. There are some controls to help you tune its sound, and there’s even a built-in ToneMatch processing feature if you want to make microphones and instruments connected to speakers sound natural, even if we didn’t try that.

The Bose S1 Pro is good enough for music. It has a relatively neutral sound profile suitable for many different genres of music and can be loud without much compression. Although it lacks a little low-end bass, the extra boom in high-bass will satisfy fans of bass-heavy music genres. It also has a sound enhancement function that helps the sound from microphones and instruments connected to the speaker sound more natural. Unfortunately, the stereo content had to be downmixed to mono, which was not very impressive.

The Bose S1 Pro is mostly for videos and movies. It reproduces dialogue clearly and accurately, but lacks a bit of low-end bass, so you won’t hear deep thumps and rumbles in action-packed scenes. It is fast and has little lag on Android and iOS devices. However, the stereo content should be downgraded to mono, which isn’t very impressive.

The Bose S1 Pro is great for podcasts. It’s Bluetooth compatible, so you can easily stream podcasts from your phone to the speaker, and you can pair it with up to two devices at once. Its balanced midrange can also produce sounds that are clear and precise. Also, its portable design is easy to take with you on the go.

Bose Home Speaker 500 Review

The Bose S1 Pro is perfect for outdoor use. Its 10+ hour battery is suitable for long days outside and it can be powerful enough to use in a large, open space. Although this speaker looks strong and durable, it is not waterproof. In addition, its stage is considered quite narrow, so it is not very impressive.

The Bose S1 Pro is a mid-sized speaker with a black design. It is usually made of plastic, and has a steel grill in the front to help protect the driver. You can place this speaker vertically, tilted back or horizontally, as the Auto EK feature uses internal sensors to ensure optimal performance based on how it is placed. There is also a 35mm post on the bottom of the speaker, so you can mount it on a speaker stand.

The Bose S1 Pro is impressively portable. It is tall and quite heavy, but it has a long handle that helps you carry it with one hand. Also, this speaker has a battery, so it doesn’t need to be plugged in to work. As a result, it is easy to use outdoors.

The Bose S1 Pro has a satisfactory build quality. It is usually made of plastic with a steel grill that covers the front of the speaker, and these materials are strong and durable. Unfortunately, it is not water, dust or shock resistant, so you should be careful if you plan to use it outdoors or near water. If you’re looking for a speaker with a more waterproof design, try the JBL PartiBox 310, which has an IPX4 rating, although we haven’t currently tested for it.

Best Wireless Speaker 2022: Top Cable Free Audio Devices

The Bose S1 Pro has poor controls. You can’t play/pause music or skip tracks, which may be frustrating for some listeners. However, there are channel 1 and 2 inputs for microphones and instruments. The channel 3 input is designed for Bluetooth connectivity and line level inputs. For each input there is a volume knob, a reverb knob, and bass and treble knobs. The ToneMatch switch enables an internal processing function that helps microphones and guitars sound more natural. There is also a button for Bluetooth pairing and a light above the volume buttons to indicate a signal.

The Bose S1 Pro has decent frequency response accuracy. Its sound profile is relatively neutral, so it is suitable for listening to many different audio content. However, it lacks a little low-end bass, so you won’t feel the deep thumps and rumbles of bass-heavy music genres. However, there’s a little extra boom in the upper bass that should please EDM and hip-hop fans. If you have a microphone or instrument plugged into the speaker, there’s a ToneMatch feature that helps make it sound more natural, though we didn’t test it.

Thanks to the automatic equalizer function, you can place this speaker vertically, tilted back or horizontally. The speaker’s internal sensors detect orientation to ensure optimal performance. We tested this speaker in a vertical position sitting flat on the ground, not tilted back.

This speaker has a disappointing soundstage. Its soundstage feels narrow and directional, so it doesn’t always feel like you’re getting clear sound from all angles. It is also necessary to downmix the stereo content to mono, so that the soundstage is not too wide or impressive. For a speaker with a better soundstage, check out the JBL PartiBox 100.

Bose S1 Pro System Review

The Bose S1 Pro has exceptional dynamic performance. It is loud, so it is suitable for use at parties or in large rooms. Also, there isn’t much compression if you play it at full volume.

This speaker has good battery performance. It lasts more than ten hours on a charge, which is good. The manufacturer says that there is a quick charging feature that allows you to charge the speaker in just 2.5 hours when the power switch turns to the Quick Charge logo. However, when we tested this feature, the speaker took 4.5 hours to charge. It also goes into standby mode after an hour without any audio playback, which helps save battery life. The battery also goes into “sleep mode” if not used for 30 consecutive days, and you have to plug the speaker into the AC adapter and turn it on to activate it.

The Bose Connect app is great. You can use Party Mode to pair your speaker with other Bose S1 Pro speakers so your sound can cover a large, full room. You can also pair it with another Bose S1 Pro speaker to create a stereo pair, and you can turn the auto-off timer on and off. However, there is no equalizer to help you adjust the speaker’s sound profile.

This speaker has several wired connection options. There is a 3.5mm AUX port so you can connect your mobile devices to the speaker. There are also two channel inputs, and you can use these analog inputs to connect a microphone using an XLR cable or an instrument using a TS unbalanced cable. You can use a 1/4″ TRS cable to connect to the line-level output. There is also a micro-USB port, but it is only for serving the speaker.

The 28 Best Outdoor Bluetooth Speakers In 2021: Portable And Waterproof Speakers

The Bose S1 Pro has excellent Bluetooth connectivity. You can pair it with up to two devices at once, which is great for listeners who like to switch their audio sources frequently. It has an incredible range, so it can receive a signal from your phone or tablet even if you are not close to the speaker. Also, its low latency on iOS and Android devices is convenient for watching videos. Some apps charge latency, so your experience may vary.

The Bose S1 Pro comes in ‘black’, and you can see the tag for the model we tested here.

The JBL PartiBox 310 is a better speaker for music than the Bose S1 Pro system. JBL can produce lower bass, it can produce stereo content and it can be louder. It also has longer battery life and is rated IPX4 for water resistance, meaning it can withstand small water splashes. However, the Bose is more portable.

The JBL PartiBox 100 is a better speaker than the Bose S1 Pro system. The JBL has a more balanced sound profile and better soundstage performance. It can also be louder than the Bose, although it does have some compression artifacts present at maximum volume. However, the Bose is more portable.
